Earth DAY!!!!

Being Earth day, I thought it would be nice to see how the political world is dealing with global warming.
There seems to be a consensus in the Democratic party that global warming is occurring in the world and something has to be done about it. While the Republican party cant even agree if the global warming is really happening or if it is scam. In this article http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0409/21536.html the writer goes on to say that if you ask 15 republicans about climate changes you would get 20 different answers. I don't quite understand how some people can keep denying that the earth is going through a crisis and something has to be done about it. But the bigger issue is that little things like a consensus on issues so big like global warming is causing the Republican party to crumble. Instead of trying to develop a plan of attack against global warming Republicans that will rival the Democrats' plan. Republicans are wasting time arguing about the existence of global warming.
Democrats have initiative even though their cap-and-trade system has its own problems and may be to costly for businesses. Republicans cant really criticize the plan because they don't have one.
Let's save the EARTH and RECYCLE.

Does global warming really exist? Besides, green starting to be just a fad like jerking or pokeman cards.

it is still a pretty debatable question because this global warming might not be caused by our pollution but by Earth's natural elliptical revolution around the sun (we get more to the extremes every year).

Changing everything to 'green' too can also be extremely expensive and extremely time consuming, which makes green energy a huge business in the near future.

However, regardless of whether global warming exists or not, it is still a good idea to go green due to our limited supply of fossil fuels.

I just feel that we should slow it down and be extremely careful with what we do instead of investing all our resources in solar panels or wind turbines. this is because even though they can produce 'clean' energy, it still takes a lot of resources and a lot of energy (regardless if its clean or not) to make solar panels and such. green is good dont get me wrong, but so was mining for coal. lets just make sure that when we make the change to a green lifestyle, we do it smart. Efficiency is key.

On a nonpolitical note
Disney stores were giving away reusable water bottles to customers who would bring in 3 disposable water battles to recycle for today =]

Maybe Republicans have long memories, and remember all the various ways the Earth was supposed to be destroyed in the past by a "new ice age," or by DDT, etc.

Also, faith in God plays a big role. When you understand the earth as a special creation of God you trust, it puts things in a different perspective. Ultimately, God is in control.

That must be incredibly frustrating to those who believe the earth is all we have and that is in imminent danger. But equally frustrating is people who want to raise energy taxes on every American and destroy our ability to provide for our families. An overtaxed economy does not generate the kind of economic wealth needed to defend freedom around the world. Cap and trade is preemptive surrender to the Chinese and others, who will not limit their own emissions and will just watch us commit economic suicide. Not to mention it hurts the poor way out of proportion to the rich.
