House Approves Obama's Stimulus Bill

Why is he approving a $819 billion stimulus plan? I thought everything he said was to work lo9ng term. In fact, I did my C-span project on how it is a mistake to just keep approving larger and larger stimulus plans. That's NOT the way to do it! We're just digging ourselves into a bigger and bigger national deficit. How much more money are we going to spend? How much longer can we hold on before we collapse completely financially? We need to think long term. We need to grind it out. But... what else can we do except for stimulus plans?

I couldn't agree with this more. Forget the short term reliefs. They aren't going to crap for the nation.

I agree with the above individuals, Wynn and Edward, the stimulus packages will only soothe short term wounds and the problems of today, not tomorrow. The Bush administration has already given enough money to the nation, some 800 billion dollars, although some of it IS going to education, the rest is being not being effectively used.
Banks are scared to use the money because they do not want to lend money.
There's not much Obama can do to restore the confidence, in terms of helping out the big companies, he needs to reach out and let the grassroot, the general public, the average Americans know that it is okay to spend. He needs to create jobs, not give more money, because when you create more jobs, you get more money in circulation, and then the economy will slowly get up off its knees.
