U.S. Recession May Continue Beyond Next Year, Economists Say

March 1 (Bloomberg) -- The U.S. recession, now in its 15th month, will probably continue well into 2010 or beyond, several prominent economists wrote in today’s New York Times.

“I find it quite easy to imagine two consecutive years of contraction,” Niall Ferguson, a financial historian at Harvard University, said in one of 11 assessments by economists. “I don’t rule out two more lean years after that,” he said.

I feel that although Hillary Clinton did not become president of the United States, her plan for universal healthcare could have really helped the tough economic times Americans are feeling. America is in the bottom rank when compared to other countries regarding Heathcare. If universal heathcare were implemented Americans would have more money and might not been in this economic recession. Professionals say that it will take four years for the economy to recover after housing has reached rock bottom, how long will that take? Although this is not like the Great Depression, many people are being kicked out of their homes, which is the reason for so many houses that are bank foreclosures and while this may be good for those who are looking to buy a house, it is fatal for those families that are being evicted. Hopefully, this econpmic recession will soon come to an end.
